It was an ordinary day for one mom at the beach with her husband and young children. An ordinary day meaning juggling a bunch of sand toys, trying to convince one kiddo that it was time to leave, and attempting to calm down the crying baby.
That is, until a comment from a stranger changed everything.

As Lauren Turner and her family finally packed everything and began to walk away from the sand, she realized an older man was watching them with his wife.
He said to her, "Those were the days, weren't they?"
The comment stopped Lauren right in her tracks. She wrote in a Pop Sugar post that as soon as she got in the car with her husband, she told him what the man had said. And her voice cracked with emotions as she realized the gravity of it.
"These are the days. We're in them, living them. Right. Now," Turner wrote in the post.

It served as a huge reminder to Turner that even though moments like the one she had at the beach could be overwhelming, those times are still magical in their own right.
So that changed her parenting strategy in a huge way.
"I've made a conscious effort to replay those words and that scene at the beach in my mind," she wrote. "We were sticky with sunscreen, hair tangled from the wind, hands full of stuff, dragging our babies through the sand, and instead of seeing chaos, that man saw us as a beautiful memory of his own young family. We were the highlight reel."
In doing so, she realized that even though the crazy hectic moments might not be a highlight of any given day, they come together to make a beautiful lifetime of experiences.
We couldn't agree more!
