Alan Thicke’s Last Two Days Show He Was All About His Beloved Family

UPDATE — (2/1/17) Our hearts are breaking for Alan Thicke’s beloved family all over again. Nearly a month and a half after losing his beloved father, 19-year-old Carter Thicke has opened up more about the last day he saw him alive. As previously reported, Carter had been playing hockey with his dad and a few friends when his dad suddenly needed to go to the hospital–and passed away shortly after arrival.

“The ambulance came and the paramedics had stabilized him and everything seemed fine,” Carter said. “I got to give him a hug and said, ‘I love you,’ and that was the last time I saw him.… He was, like, the perfect dad.”

We’re continuing to keep Carter and the rest of Alan’s family in our thoughts and prayers.

(12/15/16) In Alan Thicke’s final days, the late actor appeared to be the picture of good health. The ‘Growing Pains’ star also seemed to be in good spirits—especially while around his family.

No one could’ve imagined he’d soon be dead of a heart attack at age 69.

The weekend before he passed away, Thicke’s wife Tanya shared a sweet photo of the two in the car together on the way to a Christmas party—which would ultimately be the last one he’d ever attend.

“Cutest designated driver EVER,” she gushed in the Instagram post.

At the party itself, he appeared to presumably be in good shape to the guests. He gladly posed for pictures with friends.

Indeed, he remained active up until the day of his death on Tuesday. While playing hockey with his teenage son Carter and a few friends, he was suddenly forced to sit down midway through the game.

Though he reassured the others that he was fine, Carter thought otherwise and had someone at the hockey rink call 911.

And when the first responders arrived and put him in a stretcher, he was still joking around with the group. He even had Carter take a photo of him on the stretcher, making sure to get the hockey rink in the background.

“Ah, take a shot, kiddo,” he reportedly said.

He also reportedly told all in attendance that he would be fine.

Tragically, he died shortly after reaching the hospital.

After his death, Carter shared an emotional message on Twitter with his fans and followers, tugging on heartstrings all over the world.

One of Thicke’s other sons, the singer Robin Thicke, also paid an emotional tribute to his late father, calling his dad the “greatest man I have ever met” and “always a gentleman.”

It’s clear that “America’s dad” always kept his family and loved ones a top priority, even up until the very end. And it looks like the feeling couldn’t be more mutual.
