4 Secrets to Save Even More Money on Amazon Purchases

Tags:

Thanks to these savvy strategies, you can score even greater deals when you shop at the online retail giant. Keep reading to see four amazing secrets to saving big on Amazon!

1. Earn “Amazon Cash” with every purchase.

Rack up rewards every time — and everywhere — you shop just by signing up for the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card. Issued by Chase and with no annual fee, it lets Prime members earn 5 percent back on all Amazon and Whole Foods purchases, 3 percent back on restaurant, gas station, and drugstore buys, and 1 percent back on everything else. Best of all, it’s super-easy to redeem your “Amazon cash”: When you go to check out at Amazon, you can use the rewards to pay for part or all of your purchase, and there’s no minimum balance needed to redeem!

2. Get paid for your clutter.

Clear clutter and get cash toward your next amazon purchase? It’s easy, thanks to the Amazon Trade-In program, which gives customers an Amazon gift card in exchange for thousands of eligible items, from old gadgets to books. How it works: Browse the Trade-In store on the website or app to see if your item is currently being accepted. If it is, you’ll receive an immediate offer, as well as a prepaid shipping label to send in your item. The balance is then added to your Amazon account once your item is received, and you can use it to save on future purchases.

3. Snag the lowest price.

Prices on Amazon frequently fluctuate, but stealthy shoppers don’t stay glued to the screen to nab rock-bottom deals — they let free online tools do the work for them! For instance, at sites like Keepa and CamelCamelCamel, you can set notifications for specific items, and you’ll be alerted via email of any price plunges. Also smart: The sites let you check the price history of millions and millions of products which can be super helpful when you want to buy an item that frequently goes on sale or changes price.

4. Stock your pantry for less.

Sign up for Amazon’s Subscribe & Save programs, and you can snag up to 15 percent off for scheduling repeat automatic deliveries of the same product. But what about products you don’t need regularly? Check out Amazon Prime Pantry to score discounts on nonperishable groceries and household goods! Available to Prime members, it lets you select the items you want in whatever quantity you want — because they all get sent in one box, it’s cheaper for Amazon to deliver, and they pass those savings on to customers with low prices and exclusive discounts. (Recent coupons include 30 percent off cereal and $3 off disposable razors.) Spent $35 and shipping is free; otherwise, it’s a flat $5.99 fee.
