Man Babysitting ‘Grand-Dog’ Is Hilariously Sweet

Curious as to whether or not your parents are ready for grandkids? Take advice from Virginia resident Meghan Specksgoor, and leave your pet with them!

Over the holidays, Meghan was in desperate need of a dog-sitter to watch over Chance, her four-year-old German Shepherd, while she went away for the weekend. With no one to look after Chance, she turned to the one man she knew she could always count on — her father, Larry Speckgoor.

Almost immediately after Meghan took off to New York City, however, she began receiving surprising text messages from her dog-sitter, who was hilariously posing as Chance.

“Grandpa wants to know what kind of take out I can have? We are starving,” one text read. “Hate to keep bothering you, Mom, but we really need to hang out with Gramps more,” read another.

From the texts, it looks as though Chance and Larry had a fabulous time. They even “went to Petco to get his nails done because he needed his nails trimmed,” Meghan told ABC News. “He desperately wants grandchildren.”

And just wait until you hear how Meghan became Chance’s dog mom! According to Bored Panda, Meghan met her furry four-legged friend at the Richmond Animal League. Though she initially came in looking for a puppy, Chance (who was once known as Chap) stole her heart.

“I walked into [there] with a friend of mine who was looking for a puppy,” Meghan told Bored Panda. “And walked out with a completed application for ‘Chap.’ ‘Chap’ was brought to RAL with a shattered jaw from someone shooting him. We had surgery done to get a plate put in his jaw and he has been perfect ever since. He’s been re-named after my favorite rapper ‘Chance the Rapper,’ and I thought it was fitting since he has been given a second chance at life.”

We’re so glad Chance found Meghan — and her super-sweet father, Larry — to take care of him!
