Parents Surprise Elementary School Students With Heartwarming Bathroom Makeover
Bathrooms are probably one of the least inspiring places for students to spend time, but thanks to an artsy group of parents in Arlington, Texas, Mary Moore Elementary School’s bathroom screams “motivation.” That’s because this past weekend, parents partnered up to encourage positivity around campus by giving the school’s bathrooms a meaningful makeover.
Working for more than 37 hours, they sanded down the original surface of the stall doors and re-painted everything black to create a “canvas” for drawings, paintings, and endearing quotes. Once the community heard about the project, several local businesses donated supplies.
“We were very blessed to have almost everything donated for the project! Sherwin-Williams donated the paint, Home Depot donated supplies, and local businesses JC Nails and Great Oak Dental also gave monetary donations,” Mary Moore’s assistant principal, Michael Zook told Woman’s World in an email. “Our fifth graders didn’t know they’d be coming back to this after the weekend, and were shocked. They’ve definitely taken a sense of pride and ownership, and have had nothing but exciting things to say about it. They’re all smiles for sure!”
Zook says that the positive reaction from students, parents, and community members was so overwhelming that the school is going to continue spreading messages of kindness and encouragement in different ways throughout the campus.
“It’s been so exciting to see all the different teachers and administrators commenting on our Facebook post that they can’t wait to start something similar in their schools,” Zook said. “I definitely hope that our parents’ random act of kindness inspires many other schools to do the same. Our kids can always use an extra boost of happiness and joy.”

These parents definitely deserve an A-plus! Now, every time students enter to use the restroom they’ll be greeted with a positive message that cheers them up, powers them through a stressful test or project, or reminds them to be kinder to friends. How sweet is that?
