10 Companies That Are in Desperate Need of Seasonal Employees

Tags:

‘Tis the season for frantically Googling “seasonal jobs near me.” As we gear up for all the major holidays, who among us couldn’t use some relief from the financial strain of buying Halloween costumes, Christmas presents, and seasonal decorations. Many people pick up seasonal work to balance budgets this time of year. Fortunately, there are plenty of seasonal jobs hiring immediately — and here are just a few of the best seasonal jobs out there.

1. Target

Raise your hand if spending 20 minutes alone in Target is your idea of self-care. Wouldn’t it be nice to also get paid for being there? Well, now you can: The retailer plans to hire nearly 120,000 seasonal workers — up 20 percent from last year. Positions are available at Target’s more than 1,800 stores and 39 distribution centers.

Anyone hired after September 12, 2018, will earn $12/hour as part of Target’s commitment to a minimum $15/hour wage by 2020, making it one of the highest-paying seasonal jobs you’ll see. Those who are hired for seasonal employment will also earn several perks, including a 10 percent discount at Target stores and Target.com, as well as 20 percent off fruits and veggies and Simply Balanced and C9 Champion merchandise. Sounds like you’d have most of your Christmas presents sorted, doesn’t it?

To sweeten the deal, Target is awarding one part-time employee at each store and distribution center a $500 holiday gift card. Target will also donate $500 to the winning employee’s charity of choice. Head to TargetSeasonalJobs.com to apply now.

2. Amazon

Amazon seasonal work is another enticing option. The online retailer is looking to hire more than 100,000 seasonal employees to keep up with holiday shopping demand. Given its $15/hour salary starting November 1, this may be one of the best-paying seasonal jobs out there.

To apply for one of the company’s many roles, including an Amazon seasonal work-from-home customer service associate, visit Amazon’s website. The company is hiring across the country, so there’s a good chance of finding Amazon seasonal work near you.

3. UPS

To keep up with demand, UPS plans to hire nearly 100,000 full-time and part-time employees. UPS’ seasonal work includes working as a driver or driver helper.

UPS’ seasonal employment may be a good option for those who want to transition into full-time work. The company estimates 35 percent of its seasonal workforce stay on to work full time. Plus, compensation isn’t too shabby: UPS’ seasonal job pay starts at $10.45/hour and goes up from there.

And once the holiday season is in full swing, Kohl’s will offer 35 percent off products online and in stores for employees, with no exclusions. Holiday hires who want to work for Kohl’s full time can also be considered for more permanent positions once the season is over.
