Brad Paisley Has Something to Say to Military Families

Tags:

This new Brad Paisley song will strike a chord with anyone in a military family. The country star was hard at work last week filming his music video for his new song, “Love and War,” when he opened up exclusively to ET Online about what the song means to him. And Brad Paisley was not shy about addressing the way the United States treats its veterans after they’ve served our country.

“I think the message is, really, we can do better,” he said of the song. “We can do a lot better when it comes to taking care of veterans. I don’t think there’s anyone who would disagree with that.”

Paisely opened up about one of his favorite lines in the song, that really drives that point home.

“‘We pin some medals on their chest, give them a little pension, could we do much less?'” he quoted. “It feels like we should be giving these people the moon! They should be getting anything they need from us.”

To emphasize the point even further, Paisley got a hand from former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty, who is also an Army reserve veteran.

“I wasn’t shipped to Vietnam, but certainly being the same age and the same and the same end zone, possibly, I had my eye on that all the way through,” Fogerty said. “We send people off do this great service for us and possibly die, but when they come home, we don’t treat them very well. That’s what we wanted to express in the song—we need to do something about that.”
