Celine Dion Posts Sweet Tribute to Celebrate Her Oldest Son’s Birthday

Tags:

He’s growing up so fast! Celine Dion took to Instagram on Thursday, January 25, to wish her eldest son, René-Charles Angélil, a happy 17th birthday. “Happy Birthday RC! I love you more and more each day, and I’m so proud of the young man that you’ve become. Love, Mom,” the 49-year-old singer captioned a sweet Instagram photo of herself and René-Charles.

Many of Celine’s two million Instagram followers were quick to comment on the cute photo to wish René-Charles a wonderful birthday. “Happy Birthday to him! I won’t get any ideas… haha… but he’s super cute!” one person wrote with another adding, “Happy Birthday to your handsome son, Celine.” People also couldn’t believe how grown up René-Charles looks in the new photo. “Wow, this is her son… He grew overnight!” one person commented.

Celine similarly took to Instagram in October 2017 to wish her two youngest sons, twins Nelson Angélil and Eddy Angélil, a happy seventh birthday. “Can’t believe you are already seven years old… Time flies! Happy Birthday, my loves! I’m so proud of all of my boys!” the “My Heart Will Go On” songstress captioned a pic of herself hugging Eddy and Nelson. Celine previously welcomed her three boys in January 2001 and October 2010, respectively, with her late husband, René Angélil.

René sadly passed away in January 2016 after battling throat cancer. In a past interview with Page Six, Celine opened up about how special occasions — such as the holidays or birthdays — feel “bittersweet” since René’s passing. Still, the Grammy winner told the publication that she has made a concerted effort to stay strong for her kids in the wake of their dad’s death.

“I cannot just live on like, ‘I lost my husband, my children have no father,’” she said at the time. “I have to stand tall and strong because this is my way of living: Stand tall, be positive, pick your battles, do the best you can and to live for today, not for tomorrow, for today, and know nothing is perfect, not everything you want will happen.” Your boys are so lucky to have you as their mom, Celine!
