In a random act of kindness, Kristen Clark helped brighten the day for Paul, a 3-year-old. The store cashier recognized that young Paul was having an extra-difficult day, so she offered up an opportunity she doesn't usually: She invited him to come behind the counter to help her ring up customers' items after he asked her permission.
In a Facebook post, Paul's mom, Kimberly Grandinette of Enon, OH, went out of her way to explain what happened and how much she and her son appreciated Kristen's gesture, especially given her family's recent struggles. Her infant son is currently hospitalized, and Paul, understandably, hasn't been handling it well. It's hard enough for Kimberly to watch one son suffer, so seeing both doing so cannot be easy.
When Kimberly explained her family's unfortunate predicament, Kristen immediately helped cheer up Paul by putting him to work as a fun distraction. Kimberly said on Facebook that, "she was so patient with him as she let him help her scan the coupons and she made him feel like a million bucks."

Kimberly concluded her message by expressing her thankfulness and wishing Kristen a Merry Christmas. Kristen truly embodies the Christmas spirit by proving that giving is what the season is all about.
