Everything Was Going Wrong That Day, Until a Police Officer’s Kind Gesture Gave Her Strength to Go On

Unfortunately, many of us have been there: We’re upset about something serious, and it affects our concentration so badly that it leads to another mishap, like a missed work appointment or a speeding ticket. Sometimes, the chain of bad events can seem like it won’t end.

But for one woman from Somerville, MA, a bad-turning-worse week suddenly got a whole lot better thanks to the caring actions of one police officer.

Robin Sutherland was pulled over by a cruiser on a recent morning for going 40 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone, according to Fox 25 news. As the police officer, Ashley Catatao, wrote Sutherland a speed warning, the visibly upset driver began crying as she mentioned that she’d just been told that her 90-year-old mother would be entered into hospice care the following day.

Sutherland drove off, but Officer Catatao kept thinking about her as the day wore on. And later that evening, Sutherland received a surprise delivery: a bouquet of flowers, along with a note:

Note from cop

Three cheers for this police officer, who clearly knows that a dose of humanity on the job, and a little extra kindness, can go such a long way.
