Confused Mom Receives Strange Request From Unknown Number, Then Makes Mortifying Realization

We’ve all gotten a random text here or there from an unknown number, and, most of the time, they’re pretty boring. Thankfully, all you usually have to do is tell the other person they must have the wrong number, and that’s the end of things. But not for this mom.

As her daughter, Gracie, tells it, Gracie had just gotten a new phone sometime before National Pancake Day, which, this year, fell on March 7. When Gracie texted her mom suggesting the two celebrate at IHOP with free pancakes, she could never have expected the response she got.

First, her mom didn’t know who was texting her. It seems like Gracie either hadn’t given her mom her new phone number, or Mom hadn’t updated Gracie’s contact information in her phone. Either way, Gracie’s mom followed up with a message that had stunned the young woman.

“I’m happily married with five kids, and I don’t think my husband would like if I went to eat out with you. Besides that, I wouldn’t waste my time with you since you want to take me out only cause it’s free.”

Just wanting to spend time with her mom, Gracie probably was thrown off by such a harsh response. Thankfully, she didn’t take it too personally. Good for Gracie for trying to bond with Mom, and good for Mom for staying loyal to her husband.

We hope they still went out for pancakes!
