Moms are known for being selfless, and this one's no exception. The surprising thing? She's using lipstick to do something very powerful--and very important--for her young daughter... and the world has taken notice.
Jessica Sands's daughter, Madison, developed what's known as a strawberry birthmark (or haemangioma) shortly after she was born. Now seven months old, Madison has a small red lump on her face underneath her eye, which doctors say won't ever need to be removed if it doesn't affect her eyesight. While the little girl is still probably too young to understand her unique feature, Mom is already taking action to make sure her daughter grows up confident and secure in her looks.
Every day, Jessica draws a matching birthmark on her own face as a show of support and a lesson to Madison that differences like these are what make people beautiful.
"When she's older, I want to continue putting the mark on as she will be more aware that I'm supporting her," Sands told the Daily Mirror. "In my eyes, there's nothing for her to be ashamed of; it's just a cosmetic difference."
We wholeheartedly agree.
