Proposals take weeks, months, even years for some people to plan and perfect. Do you go where you had your first date? Should you do an intimate proposal at home? I'm not engaged, nor have I proposed to anyone, so I can only assume that planning a great proposal is very time consuming.
Well, this lucky couple not only got engaged, but they were photobombed by none other than our favorite hippo, Fiona.
Hayley Roll and her boyfriend, Nick Kelble, were at the Cincinnati Zoo for their one year anniversary. Lucky for them, Fiona was out to play when they arrived. “Nick, my boyfriend and I were waiting in line to get our photo taken with Fiona," Hayley told The Daily Buzz. "I gave my cell phone to someone to take the photo, and when I turned back around, Nick was on one knee proposing.”
Hayley posted photos of Fiona crashing the couple's engagement. "We're so happy Fiona could be there on our special day ❤ here's to many more years of going to zoos with you, 😙" she wrote on her Instagram.
Although the moment seems too cute to have been accidental, Hayley said no one at the zoo knew about the proposal. But, she's thrilled at the fact Fiona was a part of their special moment. “We are huge #TeamFiona fans and have been following her since she was born,” she told The Daily Buzz.
If you scroll through her photos, you can see Fiona watching the entire proposal and later posing for a photo with the newly engaged couple. It looks like one of Fiona's parents', Bibi or Henry, was also nearby to watch the special moment. A family affair!
Fiona also just celebrated a special day of her own — yesterday she turned nine months old. The Cincinnati Zoo posted on Instagram she is the smallest hippo ever to survive after being born six weeks premature and only weighing 29 pounds.
We're happy as can be for the future bride and groom — and happy for Fiona for continuing to grow, so that more proposals like this can happen!
