Travel blogger Gilbert Ott is giving away free flight upgrades to first class, and all you have to do is spot him at the airport. Yep, it's the ultimate catch-me-if-you-can scavenger hunt, with Gilbert playing the Where's Waldo of our dreams.
Here's the face you need to be looking out for.
"Want to trade seats on the plane — whatever ticket you’ve got for my comfortable flat bed up front?" Gilbert asks on his blog, GodSavethePoints. "Yep, [it's] one of those seats with the champagne, the delicious food, and the semi (to fully) friendly smiles. You’ve got a deal."
You just have to find him first.
He continues, "You may need a little bit of luck, but if you find me in an airport at the check-in counter, security lane, terminal, lounge or even boarding gate, I’ll switch seats with you, provided we’re on the same flight."
All you have to do is say, “Gilbert, GodSaveThePoints. I want your seat.” And while luck is great, you can be strategic about it, too.
Gilbert will be posting about his travels online regularly, including on his Twitter account (which you can track from the bottom of his website) and his Instagram page. He'll be dropping clues and codes to his whereabouts for us economy class travelers to crack.
Flights and airlines vary, though Gilbert has listed his upcoming flights as American, British Airways, Japan Airlines, Delta, Alaska, Qatar, Swiss, Lufthansa, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, and Etihad.
Now, all this information begs the questions: Who is Gilbert, and how can he afford to do a magical deal like this?
Gilbert and his girlfriend, Laura Burns, head up the informative travel tips site, God SaveThePoints. "Topics include savvy travel tips, using credit card points and airline miles, travel deal hunting for flights and hotel, airline issues, loyalty programs, and general travel enjoyment," explains the website.
And how does Gilbert feel about making all these downgrades to economy? "That’s a question I will probably end up asking myself while at the chiropractor, after 14 hour back-to-back flights in economy with bags of ice on my knees. But for now, the reason is very simple. I want to deliver the best travel deals and information to as many people as possible."
Well ain't that sweet? Now get spotting!
