Why a Businessman Wants to Return Skateboarder's 'Grass-Cutting Money'

We love a good heartwarming apology — even one that's uncalled for! That's exactly what happened to one Illinois man when he recently received an anonymous apology letter referring to a "damaged truck" at his construction business.

"Mister, I want to say I'm sorry," the letter said. "My friends and I were running across the street where your truck was parked, and my friend pushed me into your truck and I scratched your truck with my skateboard."

The businessman, named John Zelnio, was stunned to see that he also received $40 along with the note.

The letter continued, "I am sending you my grass cutting money for the insurance. My dad said his [vehicle] had a hundred dollar payment for things like this. I will send some more next week when I finish some more yards."

After reading the touching letter, Zelnio went to inspect the truck for himself, and as it turned out, it wasn't damaged after all. That said, he was incredibly moved by the note and the kind gesture from the anonymous skateboarder.

"It is awesome," Zelnio said. "It made me feel good; people are trying to do the right thing."

Since there was no return address left on the letter, Zelnio is making it his mission to find out who sent it and return the money to him or her.

What a nice spin on the classic saying, "You shouldn't have, but I'm glad you did!" We hope they get the chance to reunite soon.
