A Romanian woman living in Italy didn't give birth in your typical delivery room. In fact, it wasn't a room at all--it was in a cardboard box near St. Peter's Square in Vatican City! Now, her child may grow up next door to His Holiness himself.
On early Wednesday morning the 35-year-old homeless woman delivered in near-freezing temperatures with the assistance of the Italian police patrol. But that wasn't the only unexpected thing to happen to her that day.
After an ambulance took her and her newborn baby girl to the hospital, the head of Pope Francis's charity office offered the new mother a church-owned apartment to live in for free for a year.
Although the new mom hasn't accepted the amazing offer yet, we wish her and her little daughter the very best!
