Hostess and Zipcar Collab on National Chocolate Cupcake Day

To celebrate National Chocolate Cupcake Day, Hostess and Zipcar — we know, that’s an odd collaboration for sure — have teamed up to bring you the opportunity to win a year’s worth of chocolate cupcakes. Score! All you have to do is answer this question: How many chocolate cupcakes can fit inside a car?

Hostess, the maker of many a childhood lunchbox dessert, is offering free baked goodies to the person who correctly guesses the number of Hostess CupCakes you can fit in a Ford Focus Hatchback. If you live in Boston and you’re a Zipcar member, you can rent the car for yourself to get a better idea of just how much space there is inside.

The Hostess Zipcar, by the way, has been decked out with a white frosting decals to look just like a CupCake. Inside there’s white fuzzy steering wheel cover, fluffy white seat covers, and a chocolate-scented air freshener. Now that’s one sweet ride — pun totally intended!

So how do you win free Hostess CupCakes for a year? All you need to do is fire up Twitter and tweet your guess along with #BuckleYourSweetBelt before 3 p.m. EDT on Thursday, October 19. We polled a few editors, and guesses include seven; 3,146; 4,423; “I dunno, 10k?”; and “Should I count the ones that I eat as I’m putting them in the car?” All good guesses if you ask us!

That said, Hostess and Zipcar have left out a few key details that would help answer the question, like “How will the CupCakes would be arranged in the car?” (in rows? just tossed wherever? all smushed together?), as well as “Will the trunk, glove compartment, cup holders, seat-back pockets, etc. be filled with cake, too?” Hostess and Zipcar’s answers would totally change our calculations.
