No breakup is easy, especially if it means calling off an engagement. In a time that must be very sad and reflective, a Reddit user named What_Choice opened up about his deteriorated relationship before offering something he knew sounded crazy.
Instead of wallowing in his pain, this man gave other Reddit users the opportunity to tell their love stories for a chance to receive his old engagement ring for free. These couples may not be able to afford a ring like this otherwise, but they have something this man has yet to find in a partner--true love.
In his Reddit post, What_Choice said, "I have decided to give away my old engagement ring.
I have only heard horror stories of people trying to sell their rings and being insulted with sub-par offers from pawn shops, jewelers etc. and thought I would attempt to pass it on to a deserving couple.
I am serious!
This is not a ploy or a fake.
It's a nice ring and I wish for it to bring happiness and joy…
I trust that those who will comment are truthful, and will not lie.
I'd like to know why you would like the ring and to get married, and proof you are a couple.
Something to convince myself and Reddit that you're legitimate.
I'd also like to pass it on to you in person."

His offer certainly didn't go unnoticed as he received an outpour of responses that make our hearts swell. They highlight how love plays such an important role in the lives of those who are struggling and have very little.
Kirsti27 responded with a story of how she and her significant other have dealt with the ups and downs of mental illness and stay together regardless. She said, "This year is the year for us! My partner has just finished his university degree for nursing and I have just finished my training for veterinary nursing."
Another user, NSFWar, talked about his difficulties with immigration laws and how all of his money was spent trying to pay lawyers for his case. He and his wife eloped in a low-key ceremony that they've kept a secret. NSFWar said, "Her family nor mine know that we're married, but I would love to give her a public proposal after asking her mum as my beautiful wife has been [my] rock throughout all of this and i just wanna make her day."
The lucky winner hasn't been chosen yet, but it sounds like the ring's original intended recipient may be missing out on a great guy.
