Death Valley is alive.
But now is not a typical time. For a short while, this Eastern California desert will be covered with gorgeous yellow, pink, and purple wildflowers.
Though the valley has flowers blooming every year, a series of storms has caused a "super bloom" to happen this season, the biggest in a decade.
This was one flower that was fighting hard to be part of the super bloom. So cute pushing up through the cracked mud. #superbloom #dv #deathvalley #deathvalleysuperbloom #flowers #sunflower #bloom #spring #springishere #springisintheair #nature #natureaddict #roadtrip #photographyworkshop #deathvalleyworkshop #deathvalleynationalpark #california #nps100 #natureatitsfinest
This #deathvalleysuperbloom of Desert Gold (Geraea canescens) and Sand Verbena (Abronia villosa) spills out across the expansive alluvial fans of southern Death Valley National Park near Ashford Mills. The sweet nectar smell of so many flowers at once was intoxicating! The endless vistas of botanical paint were made possible by torrential El Niño storms & flash floods last October caused by over 6 inches of rain in a region lucky enough to receive 2 inches in a GOOD year! It was an epic road trip with @msp_inroom9 to reach these fields of "California's Gold"!
