Judy Garland’s Body Moved for a Sweet Reason

Judy Garland’s body has been moved nearly 50 years after the ‘Wizard of Oz’ actress passed away. But the reason behind moving the beloved starlet’s remains from New York to Los Angeles is heartbreakingly sweet.

Her family members made the tough decision to move her body across the whole country just so she could be buried in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Why? Because her burial place in New York did not have enough room for her beloved children to be buried next to her when they eventually pass away.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery, on the other hand, has enough space to accommodate a resting place for Garland’s three children, Liza Minnelli, 70, Lorna Luft, 64, and Joey Luft, 61, right by her side.

The cemetery in question also holds many other beloved stars, like Mickey Rooney and George Harrison.

Garland passed away from an accidental barbiturate overdose back in 1969, but her tragic death at the young age of 47 still resonates with many people today. And it’s clearer than ever before that her devoted children remain dedicated to preserving her memory–not just as an icon, but also as a mother.

Surely, she must be smiling down on them right now.
