A Denver football team made a really classy play when they decided on this year's homecoming queen. She's beautiful, vibrant...and just three years old! Avelynn was born with multiple heart issues and wasn't expected to survive past six weeks old. But after several surgeries, she continues to live a happy life.

I cried! Amazing little girl, amazing group of teens!
Avi first met the Manual High School football team when they landscaped her yard as part of a service project. “When we saw that little girl walk out onto her new lawn it touched my heart so much, I wanted to cry," said player Losseny Knoe.
So they decided to honor the tiny tot in a major way: the Thunderbolts invited her to the homecoming game and crowned her queen on the field.

Football player Benjamin Butler said, "We were worried she would be overwhelmed, or that it would all be too much, but she absolutely loved it. She was smiling at the players, pointing to her framed picture, and just seemed to be basking in the special moment. She was everything that you would hope a homecoming queen would be.”
