Martha Stewart Has a Bizarre Trick for the ‘Softest Fluffiest’ Scrambled Eggs

Tags:

As much as we trust Martha Stewart and appreciate any time she shares her cooking tips with the rest of us, we were definitely taken aback when we found her “very fun way” of whipping up scrambled eggs. Instead of using a pan or getting anywhere near the stove at all, she recommends using a cappuccino machine. No, we aren’t joking.

Stewart isn’t trying to shock or confuse us with this bizarre method. According to her website, she’s been doing this for years after picking it up from her friend Jody Williams, a renowned chef with multiple restaurants in New York City. The idea is that instead of using a hot pan, the steam from a cappuccino machine’s milk frother will heat the eggs up and produce what Stewart called the “softest, fluffiest scrambled eggs.” Plus, the whole process should only take a few seconds.

If you’re unconvinced, hit play on the video below to see exactly how Stewart does it:

We have to admit, “scrambled egg à la cappuccino machine” look pretty darn tasty! Unless you’re someone who’s especially dedicated to getting a daily dose of caffeine with frothy milk straight from your kitchen, you probably won’t feel like investing in an entire espresso machine for some eggs. Even more affordable options like the Mr. Coffee One-Touch CoffeeHouse Espresso Maker and Cappuccino Machine ($259.99, Amazon) can set you back a couple hundred bucks.

Stand-alone frothers are a bit more budget-friendly, like the iTeknic Electric Milk Steamer ($39.98, Amazon), and should work as well if you’re looking for a cheaper way to test this trick out yourself. And if you’d rather stick to more traditional scrambled egg methods, there’s still no denying that just seeing Stewart’s technique is certainly an impressive “conversation piece,” as she says in the video.

Who knows, maybe coffee shops will start offering cappuccino and freshly steamed scrambled eggs breakfast combo soon. We’d toast our coffee cups to that!
