Everything You Need to Know About Meghan Markle’s Pregnancy Diet

Tags:

There’s no denying Meghan Markle is envied by the masses. What with her multimillion dollar wardrobe, skin as clear as the night sky, and ability to snap her fingers to get any food she wants, her life seems like something out of a fairy tale — one that’s filled with free designer clothes and ample donuts. But fear not, fellow normal folk! It might not come as a surprise that Markle opts for a holistic route when it comes to her life as a royal.

Better yet, her refreshingly simple lifestyle has now been revealed in all its glory, and whether you’re pregnant or not, you’ll want to take notes.

In a new report from People, a friend has revealed that Markle’s “California roots” are trumping all when it comes to her pregnancy lifestyle, with the royal opting for a clean approach to living. “She’s being mindful of what she puts in her body and on her skin and even her at-home cleaning supplies,” the source explained. “She’s hyper aware of what she’s using. She’s looking for natural things.”

And while the royal could have access to basically anything she wants, it seems that keeping things simple in every aspect of her life is the name of the game — even after she’s given birth. “She eats cleaner, and she’ll probably make her own baby food,” the friend said. “It’s going to be clean living for this baby.”

So, what does Meghan Markle eat in a day? Markle’s diet provides inspiration to #fitspo fans the world over, and her former blog The Tig reveals all about her wholesome lifestyle.

Breakfast

The now-defunct website revealed Markle’s favorite meal of the day is breakfast (yep — your doctor was onto something!), with her favorite morning dish being steel-cut oats with fruit, drizzled with manuka honey and bee pollen. A warming mug of hot water and lemon is also key to kick starting her day.

Lunch and Dinner

While she swears by a wholesome lifestyle, the royal doesn’t hold back from treating herself every now and again. She once wrote on her blog that she loves eating lunch with others so she can “share fries!”

“It’s its own food group for me,” she explained. We don’t blame you, Meghan!

On those less exciting days (aka days that do not involve fries), Markle said she usually has a heavier lunch and a lighter dinner; and she tries to stick to a gluten-free and vegan diet during the week.

Speaking to Best Health in 2015, Markle said, “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.” Sounds like a lifestyle we can relate to!

Drinks

It’ll come as no surprise that Markle is a green juice lover. In fact, she even went so far as to claim that it beats coffee!

In an interview on the Today Show a few years ago, Markle explained, “If I blend some apple, kale, spinach, lemon, and ginger in my Vitamix in the morning and bring it to work, I always find that sipping on that is a much better boost than a cup of espresso.” A bold call from the royal!

And while Markle will definitely be laying off the wines while she’s pregnant, she hasn’t shied away from a cheeky vino in the past. Before she was a royal, she told Best Health, “Of course I’m going to have that glass of wine — it’s delicious and I enjoy it. Do the things you enjoy within reason. Know your body and what works for you and you’ll be fine.”
