M&M’s Finally Releases a Sequel to Their Beloved Christmas Commercial

Tags:

Just like during the Super Bowl, when Christmastime rolls around, our TVs are flooded with heartwarming and hilarious festive holiday advertisements. One of our favorites is the M&M’s commercial, which has aired every year for more than two decades. And now, the long-awaited sequel is finally here.

Since 1996, two of M&M’s mascots — Red and Yellow — wander into a living room to put out Christmas-colored M&M’s for Santa. As they debate Santa Claus’ existence, Red and Yellow are greeted by the sight of the Old St. Nick himself. Red and Santa Claus end up fainting after realizing the other’s existence.

And so for 21 years, we’ve been left to twiddle our thumbs while we wait to learn how the story ends. Does Santa recover and make all of his Christmas deliveries on time? Do Red and Yellow try to convince the rest of the M&M’s that Santa really does exist? Well, the wait is finally over now thanks to “Faint 2: A Very Yellow Sequel” — prepare for your heart to be warmed!

Yellow, upon realizing that both Santa and his friend are unconscious, takes over delivery duty. However, he accidentally drops the wrong packages at everyone’s houses. Hilarity ensues as children unwrap toasters and packages addressed to the wrong child. A older man pulls back the tissue paper to reveal a pair of nude-colored heels.

Back at the North Pole, Santa’s elves are, not surprisingly, freaking out. When Santa gets the call that all the presents are mixed up, a downtrodden Yellow asks “Did I ruin Christmas?” Fortunately, Yellow’s mistakes forces the neighbors to leave their homes and swap presents, highlighting the true spirit of Christmas.

“We want to bring everyone together with M&M’s once again this holiday season by highlighting the true meaning of Christmas for a new generation of fans,” Michael Magee, VP of growth acceleration at Mars, Inc, said. You can tune in to NBC’s coverage of the lighting of the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center to watch the commercial on TV. If you just can’t wait, you can view it below.
