Nothing like a story of people paying it forward to warm your heart! A couple that frequents an Applebee's in Pennsylvania has made the news for randomly paying for other peoples' meals, and the reason why is truly touching.
While the husband and wife prefer to remain anonymous, the assistant manager, Bernie Lewis, told KDKA that the man always says, "I grew up poor and now I’m not."
More than a few large parties have been the recipient of the couple's generosity. Server Samantha Powell was moved to tears after a woman she was waiting on — Jolie Welling, who was celebrating her daughter's sixth birthday with a party of 16 — was stunned to learn that someone had picked up the entire tab for her large group.
"Thank you to the person that took care of the bill tonight at Applebee's in Washington! My daughter turned 6 today and one of her favorite places is Applebee's. This person paid for the whole party of 16. I have never had this happen before and it brought tears to everyones [sic] eyes. God bless and we will definitely be paying it forward," Welling wrote on a public Facebook group.
According to KDKA, the mysterious pair also paid for Darla Pepper-Miller and her group when they dined at Applebee's to celebrate a birthday. Pepper-Miller, who is the music director at a local church, was surprised when she got the bill and learned that her group's meals had been taken care of.
She told KDKA that she feels “Just gratitude, because of everything going on in the world and so much turmoil and protests and hatred. It’s good to know that there are people that care about each other and give, pay it forward.”
So while the nameless duo doesn't say much about why they do what they do, their actions speak louder than any words could. Let's all take this story as a reminder to pay thoughtfulness forward whenever we can. Never underestimate how much your kindness can mean to another person.
