Two and a half years after a New York City Police Department officer was tragically killed while on duty, his widow has given birth to his baby. Yes, his baby.
Pei Xia "Sanny" Liu, who just gave birth to little Angelina, had dreamed of having a baby with the love of her life, Detective First Grade Wenjian Liu. But they had only been married a few months before her beloved husband was shot and killed on December 20, 2014. So the night of the shooting, Sanny requested that her husband's sperm be preserved.
She then underwent in-vitro fertilization, to help make those dreams she once shared with the love of her life a reality.
"I told my friend, 'It's going to be a baby girl,'" Sanny told the NYPD. "My friend said, 'No, you haven't even checked the sonograms,' but I was right."
Sure enough, sweet little Angelina finally made her debut into the world this week. And she already has a little hat to wear in tribute to her fallen father.
The slain officer's parents, Wei Tang Liu and Xiu Yan Liu, were reportedly both present for the birth of their dear son's child. And we can't imagine the deep emotion that must have filled the room at a moment like that.
Congratulations to Sanny and her whole family after the birth of this beautiful child! We're keeping them all in our thoughts and prayers as they move forward in this new chapter of life.
