What's the Story Behind Prince Harry's New Ring?

While most of us have our eyes on Meghan Markle’s growing baby bump and the heartwarming ways she’s incorporated Princess Diana’s jewelry into her outfit choices, royal fans have also noticed Prince Harry sporting a curious new accessory. We already know that, unlike his father and brother, Harry decided to wear a wedding band after exchanging vows with Meghan — but now there’s another ring on his hand that’s got our attention.

The modest black ring on his right hand made its first appearance when the couple arrived in Australia. Initial rumors were spread that it could be connected to the Invictus Games, which Harry is hosting in Sydney this year. Although that was a good guess, a report from People has identified the ring as a handy piece of wearable technology.

Similar to other devices like Fitbit and the Apple Watch, the Oura ring tracks the wearer’s activity, but focuses more on how that affects their ability to sleep at night. As you can imagine, that’s something Prince Harry might be worried about with all the traveling he and Meghan are doing on their royal tour of Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand. No one likes dealing with jet lag, but it would seem especially bad for the prince to show up to his official appearances looking exhausted.
