Prince William and Kate Poke Fun at Each Other With Hilarious Nicknames
As anyone who’s been in a relationship for awhile can tell you, picking on each other is part of the fun — as long as it’s done lovingly, of course. By putting up with each other’s quirks and habits over the years, you’ve earned the right to tease each other every now and then. That said, you have to make sure both sides know it’s all in good humor and you’re not trying to actually hurt anyone’s feelings. Apparently, the royal family is no different when it comes to these types of endearing jibes at each other.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince William and wife Kate are particularly hilarious when it comes to nicknames for each other: Kate refers to him as “Prince Baldy,” while he’s dubbed her “Duchess of Do-Little” (or DOD for short). Obviously, the nickname he’s chosen for Kate is incredibly ironic considering how much work she actually does while raising their little ones and volunteering her time to various charities. As for William, he’s never been shy about his thinning locks. He’s even joked about it himself, like when he told hairdressers at a charity event, “I don’t have much hair, I can’t give you much business.”
It’s sweet to know that the royal couple can keep things playful between them. They aren’t the only ones with silly nicknames, either. William famously originated one for Queen Elizabeth as a child when he struggled to call her “granny,” opting for “Gary” instead. That was apparently passed down to Prince George and his younger siblings, too, who also affectionately call her “Gan-Gan.” We have to imagine they are the only people on the planet who can get away with calling her by such a non-regal monickers! George is also known for calling his dad by the adorably old school title, “Pops.” There’s no telling where the young Cambridge family member picked up that nickname, but we can’t help but love the thought of him using it for William.
The royal’s funny nicknames for each other just prove once again that behind the palace doors, they really are a regular family!
