Hit With Christmas Spirit, Dad Pays More Than $10,000 on Strangers' Layaway Bills

One Secret Santa in New Jersey is making a lot of kids' Christmas dreams come true this year. A man who goes by the name of "Charlie K" paid off strangers' layaway orders at a local Toys R Us — more than $10,000 worth of layaway orders, to be exact.

Charlie K said he woke up early one morning to shop for his son when he suddenly felt inspired to give back to his community, which has given him so much over the years. So he went to the Toys R Us in Cherry Hill to make that happen — and fulfill Christmas wishes for some people.

He paid for 62 layaway orders at the toy store, spending a whopping $10,780 in total.

“I’m trying to bring some happiness to people, to the community that brought happiness to me and my family,” said Charlie K. “I love this community and I am trying to provide back to it.”

But that eye-popping good deed wasn't even enough for him. Charlie K also gave an additional $2,000 for Toys for Tots — by having everyone in the store pick three items that they wanted to donate to the organization.

“The Marines and Toys for Tots are one of the best organizations, and I don’t want to forget them,” he said.

Shoppers who had their layaway orders paid for were understandably surprised, but very thankful.

For example, shopper Stephanie Dawson rushed to the store to learn that $200 worth of presents for her grandchildren had been covered.

“I want to say thank you very much and I appreciate it, and thank God for you,” she said.

What a beautiful early Christmas present! Thank you, Charlie K!
