UPDATE (3/14) -- When Shannen Doherty shared photos of her shaved head last year, we applauded her bravery for being so open about her breast cancer. Now, she's published something even more revealing.
On her social media, she uploaded an old video that shows actual footage of friend Anne Marie Kortright shaving Doherty's head. And her reaction proves she's such a fighter.
"This day..... laughing thru the tears. Thank you @annemkortright for jumping in and doing what needed to be done," she wrote.
During the clip she laughs, cracking a joke about how her hair makes her look like cartoon character Bart Simpson. Her humor in the face of a terrifying disease--cancer--is a source of inspiration for women.
Today, she's finished with chemotherapy. We hope she's cancer-free soon!
UPDATE (2/27) -- More good news for Shannen Doherty. The actress has officially finished her chemotherapy treatment! Doherty has been very open with her fans during her battle with breast cancer, and, again, she got brutally honest with her social media followers.
The 45-year-old posted an old photo from October when she first began chemo with the caption: "#fbf to this morning... not that long ago. Last day of chemo. Exhausted. Now that I'm done with chemo and radiation, the waiting game is here. Waiting for test. Waiting to see if I'm clear or not. Waiting for reconstruction. Waiting. I think when one gets cancer, they are always waiting to a certain extent. To those who know... I'm waiting with you. #cancerslayer 🎀"

UPDATE (1/6) -- Shannen Doherty is giving her fans a brand-new, up close and personal look at her battle with breast cancer on Instagram. The actress shared an intimate photo of herself next to her machine for radiation therapy, which she has now named "Maggie."
In the caption, she paid a touching tribute to Maggie: "I've seen Maggie five days a week for what seems like forever. We have a love/hate relationship. I love her because she's part of the life saving treatment I'm receiving. It's astounding how far we have come with technology. One day, Maggie will be retired and the cure will be found. Things like immunotherapy are the future but for now.... it's me and Maggie. I'm seeing her twice tomorrow so that I can wrap this phase up faster."
We're all rooting for you, Shannen! (And Maggie.)

UPDATE (12/16) -- Shannen Doherty just proved (again!) that her spirit won't be dampened during her courageous battle with cancer. The actress's post about an awkward encounter with a stranger who tried to cancer-shame her has totally reaffirmed just how strong, sassy, and smart she can be.
Driving home from radiation with my love @kurtiswarienko Today, we were in an elevator and I was asked how I was feeling. I responded by saying that I had just gotten a radiation treatment so therefore very tired. The random girl on the elevator with us physically lunged away as far as she could. She then proceeded to look horrified for the next 3 floors. Just a heads up.... 1. You can't catch it 2. The radiation won't leak out of me and go into you. Hope that helps. #cancertruths from the #cancerslayer
While riding in an elevator after having a radiation treatment, Doherty mentioned she was exhausted. A stranger overheard and suddenly backed with a horrified look on her face--and now it's Doherty who has a message for this mystery person.
"Just a heads up.... 1. You can't catch it 2. The radiation won't leak out of me and go into you. Hope that helps," she bravely wrote on Instagram.
Just some more truths from this cancer slayer!

UPDATE (11/21) -- Shannen Doherty is not shying away from sharing the most personal experiences about her battle with breast cancer. And that includes preparing to undergo radiation treatments. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the actress opened up about her CT scan, which was needed to do mapping for the radiation plan. She wrote, "This scared me so much. Not sure why. Was supposed to get it with contrast but the minute they started looking at which vein to use I started crying. Full panic attack." But despite the terrifying moment, she was brave enough to leave her followers with an uplifting message. "I felt sorry for myself for a minute. Then stopped and reminded myself of how lucky I am," she wrote. "Thank God my new radiation oncologist decided to try without contrast so I would calm down."
Ct scan to do mapping for radiation plan. This scared me so much. Not sure why. Was supposed to get it with contrast but the minute they started looking at which vein to use I started crying. Full panic attack. Sometimes, you just get sick of being poked. And that's ok. I cried. I felt sorry for myself for a minute. Then stopped and reminded myself of how lucky I am. Thank God my new radiation oncologist decided to try without contrast so I would calm down. So.... one panic attack down and mapping done!! Now to actually start radiation... #cancerslayer #warrior #fightlikeagirl #blessed
We're keeping her in our thoughts and prayers as she embarks on this new chapter.

UPDATE (10/26) -- Shannen Doherty made the brave choice to share a photo of herself on a hospital bed the day after getting chemo. Doherty has been open about her battle with breast cancer since being diagnosed in February 2015. And the latest snapshot is particularly heartbreaking. But despite it all, the actress still managed to send a message of positivity in her caption.
She wrote, "Hope is possible. Possibility is possible. To my cancer family and everyone suffering... stay courageous."
You can see the inspiring message in full below.
#fbf to a very short bit ago. Day after #chemoday isn't always so great. Sometimes one isn't able to dance, or eat or even to think about the next day. Sometimes it just feels like you aren't going to make it. That passes. Sometimes the next day or 2 days later or 6 but it passes and movement is possible. Hope is possible. Possibility is possible. To my cancer family and everyone suffering.... stay courageous. Stay strong. Stay positive. #wegotthis. #fightlikeagirl
UPDATE (8/11) -- Shannen Doherty announced that her breast cancer has spread to her lymph nodes, after undergoing a single mastectomy in May. "The unknown is always the scariest part," she said. "Everything else is manageable. Pain is manageable, you know living without a breast is manageable, it's the worry of your future and how your future is going to affect the people that you love."
She was fierce, she was strong, she wasn't simple. She was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. She always had something to say. She had flaws and that was ok. And when she was down, she got right back up. She was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best. She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile. R.M. Shannen Doherty has revealed that she's cut off her hair and shaved her head as she continues to battle breast cancer. The Beverly Hills, 90210 star, who first announced her diagnosis in August 2015, took to Instagram on July 19 to update her fans on this next step of her journey.
The photos, of course, are heartbreaking.
In one, she is embraced by her mother right before the scissors come out.
Then, she bravely takes matters into her own hands (literally) as her friends gather in support.
And then, the most emotional part of the process begins, leading to her final look.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Shannen Doherty and her whole family during this tough time.
