Newscaster Calls Simone Biles’ Adoptive Mom and Dad ‘Not Her Parents.’ But Her Personal Photos Say It All

When U.S. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was 5 years old, she was adopted by her grandfather, Ron Biles, and his wife, Nellie. As you can see from this tweet Trautwig later deleted, he had referred to her parents as “Simone’s grandfather and his wife.” Unsurprisingly, many people were unhappy about this, but he only apologized a day after it happened.

When Biles was asked her opinion on the matter, she said, “I personally don’t have a comment. My parents are my parents and that’s it.”
