Even if you don't understand much about sports, you can probably tell that the original comment was supposed to be an insult.
After the pro football team the Philadelphia Eagles recently played poorly and lost a game, a fan (or possibly an ex-fan) write on Facebook that the team had, "Played like they were wearing tutus!"--which we're sure wasn't exactly a compliment for a group of would-be tough and burly football players.
But unfortunately for that fan--and SO fortunately for the rest of us--dancers from the elite Pennsylvania Ballet caught wind of the post. And since they actually do wear tutus (and do plenty of hard work in them), the dancers had a LOT to say about the attempted insult.

"With all due respect to the Eagles, let's take a minute to look at what our tutu wearing women have done this month," they began in a Facebook post of their own, before proceeding to list the group's impressive list of recent accomplishments, including performing the Nutcracker 27 times in 21 days.
"No 'second string' to come in and spell them when they needed a break. When they have been sick they have come to the theater, put on makeup and costumes, smiled and performed. When they have felt an injury in the middle of a show, there have been no injury timeouts."
Wow! We'd say these dancers have a good point--especially with their final word on the matter.
"So no, the Eagles have not played like they were wearing tutus. If they had, Chip Kelly would still be a head coach and we'd all be looking forward to the playoffs."
Bravo! The lesson is clear: Watch what you write on the Internet--and DON'T ever mess with a ballerina.
