Irritated Woman Snaps at Barista. The Next Day She Tracks Him Down Again

Tags:

Every morning when we pull up to our java joint of choice, there’s inevitably a long line of other hurried men and women looking to get their daily dose of caffeine before heading off to work. A queue in the morning is to be expected, and it’s the price we pay for our almost-addictions to caffeine. For employees in the service sector, interactions with angry customers become stories that are traded after work, but this barista’s experience takes the cake.

After pulling into the drive-thru at a Starbucks, a woman named Debbie became irate when employees told her they were out of drink carriers. While Debbie might have ordered more drinks than she could carry, having to make multiple trips to her car shouldn’t have been the end of the world. But Debbie wasn’t done. When she had some time to think about her actions, she decided to make another trip to Starbucks to really let ’em have it.

This time, Debbie walked into the Starbucks and marched up to the barista who took her order the day before, and she handed him a card. And when he read her message, he had to share it with everyone.

She wrote: “Greetings Starbucks barista! Yesterday at your drive-thru we had a less than cheerful encounter. At no fault of yours, you were out of carriers and said you could not take my empty cup (trash). I was less than understanding, and my manner was curt.”

“I need to apologize. The thought of leaving a trail of unkindness like that is so not the path I want to reflect. Not for you, not for me. You are a young man, clearly working hard to build a future, and you should be commended. Keep up your attitude of cheer and hope. Stay hopeful no matter what kind of people cross your path (or drive-thru 🙂 )”

“Surely, God has good blessings in store. You taught this ‘ole lady something yesterday about kindness, compassion, and staying humble.”

“I thank you! God bless you today and all your todays. Debbie”

Debbie also left $50, but the most important lesson was this: Be kind to everyone. The best part of this story is that an unfortunate situation into a positive one. Both Debbie and the barista deserves a round of applause, and we hope they both continue to pay it forward. Bravo!
