There's a lot to love about small towns. Your neighbors are like family. (Maybe your neighbors are LITERALLY your family!) The business owners treat you kindly and fairly because you know them for years. And there's a lovely sleepiness that you'd miss if you were in a bustling big city. Business Insider has found another reason to love certain small towns: The quality of life is high, but the cost of living is low.
The site identified the most economical places in all 50 states by taking into account the proportion of salaries people spend on their homes, as well as other key factors. And if you think they lack what pricier locations have, you'd be mistaken. One's home to gorgeous waterfalls. Another has the state's best German bakery. Another still has farmer's markets, a museum, and an equestrian center. And yet another is a quick commute away from D.C. Whether you're thinking of making a move or just want to know if you're lucky enough to call one of these quaint but low-cost places home, check out this list, in alphabetical order by state.
