Poor seals. If the one in this video is any indication, they crave human interaction--or at least some tummy scratching--as much as any doggy. But they don't encounter many people under the water, of course. That's why this particular sea creature's day (or maybe whole life) was made when a scuba diver approached it.
A video posted in 2014 is making the rounds again thanks to coverage from The Dodo, the animal lover's site, for good reason. In it, videographer Gary Grayson swims near a friendly Atlantic Grey seal off the Isles of Scilly in Great Britain. The gentle animal shows it's not so different from those we keep as pets, shaking paws with the diver and eventually moving into an ideal position for receiving a belly rub.
The diver obliges and the seal seems to go into a state of bliss. After a few moments of massage, the creature taps the diver's hand as though it's saying, "Thanks, Bud. I needed that." Don't we all sometimes?
