Any dog lover would jump at the chance to rescue as many shelter animals as possible, but we don't all have homes as big as our hearts. That's why we can take a cue from this kind woman who, according to ViralNova, does something easy and quite novel to benefit the pooches at the Western PA Humane Society: She reads stories to them.
User puglife123 (love that name!) posted the touching image above to Imgur and Reddit, where the photo quickly gained attention from other animal fans.
Not much is known about the woman, but some on Imgur are speculating that perhaps she's feeling lonely herself, maybe after losing a loved one or her own furry friend. Who better to be the recipient of her companionship than shelter dogs? Whatever her motivation, we applaud her using her time this way to brighten the lives of pups who otherwise may not get much human interaction, beyond when shelter workers swing by to fulfill their most basic needs.
Want to do something similar at your local humane society? Give them a call. Volunteering may not be as time-consuming or strenuous as you'd think. And it could just remind dogs who most need the reminder that they're loved.
