During a battle in Israel a year ago, a Californian named Betsy wanted to do what she could to protect soldiers. So she contacted an organization, who gave her a specific service member she could pray for. She learned his name, Barak, as well as his mother's, Orna.
Months later, Betsy still wondered what happened to the young soldier, especially when she and her husband visited Israel. Before they left, she prayed to God that he's still alive and that she'd get to meet him.
On their trip, they went to a restaurant on a whim and were shown to a table on the bottom floor. Hoping for a better view, they asked to be reseated upstairs instead. Their new waiter read them the specials and then walked away before turning his attention back to the table to say, "By the way if you need anything my name is Barak.”
“I immediately got some kind of a feeling in me," Betsy admitted to her nephew, Yoel Gold. "'We have to know his mom’s name,’” Betsy told her husband.
So she asked. And the waiter answered, "Orna."
Not quite believing his response, she checked that he was indeed a soldier who had fought in the recent conflict. "How did you know?" he replied.
"I've got your name in my kitchen cabinet," Betsy confessed.
“I felt that this is a mark from God or something. This was unbelievable,” Barak said.
Betsy agreed: “It was just a powerful message to me that [God] is right there.”
Betsy's nephew, a rabbi, was so touched by the story, he turned it into a sermon. He also shared the story in a YouTube video that's reminding viewers around the world that coincidences may be more than that.
