Debbie Matenopoulos’ Chocolate Strawberry Truffles Are the Perfect Valentine’s Day Treat
Is it really Valentine’s Day without a few scrumptious delights? Whether you share them with your loved ones or treat yourself to some tasty bites, we won’t tell anyone if you decide to get an early start on indulging. Instead, we’ll simply recommend you try these delicious chocolate strawberry truffles from Debbie Matenopoulos, host of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family.

With just five simple ingredients and no need to pop anything in the oven, these are the perfect stress-free homemade sweets. The recipe also uses dark chocolate, so you can count on some anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and brain-boosting perks while you nosh!
Take a look at the easy recipe below:
Ingredients
- 8 oz. 65% dark chocolate, chopped
- 1⁄2 cup heavy cream
- 1⁄4 cup malted milk powder
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 (1.2 oz.) pkg. freeze-dried strawberries, ground, about 1⁄4 cup
Instructions:
- In heatproof bowl, combine chocolate, cream, milk powder and butter; set over pot of hot, not simmering water. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Remove bowl from pot; vigorously whisk until mixture is glossy and thick. Mixture will resemble pudding. Cover; chill at least 4 hrs.
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Working with one at a time, scoop chocolate mixture into 2-tablespoonful portions; lightly roll between hands into balls. Place on baking sheet; chill until almost firm.
- Place ground strawberries in shallow bowl. Add balls; roll until evenly coated. Return to baking sheet; chill.
- Store truffles in refrigerator until ready to serve.
If you want to add some extra flavor, Debbie says, “You can roll the balls in coconut, sprinkles, or powdered sugar, too!”
