You Can Lose Weight if You Paint Your Walls One Color, Experts Say

Figuring out how to eat less is one of the biggest issues women face when trying to lose weight. And it’s not hard to see why. Portion control at restaurants is a bigger problem than ever with oversize meals dominating the industry. And many popular recipes online are designed to serve two or four people, instead of one.

But one way of how to eat less might have nothing to do with the food servings at all–it might have to do with your paint job at home.

Yes, really. Experts have said that one very specific color of paint may suppress your appetite. The U.S. Naval Study of Research published findings in the 1980s that said more than one-third of nearly 1,700 people said the color Baker-Miller Pink suppressed their appetite. The study lasted more than four years at the Health, Weight, and Stress Clinic at Johns Hopkins University.

Though the causation is not absolutely clear (after all, that would be hard to scientifically verify), there is certainly a good amount of correlation here.

And now, model Kendall Jenner has tested out the color for herself on her own living room wall.

She wrote on her blog, “I decided to paint it pink because while I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with the room, I went to dinner with friends and they had just gone to the ‘Human Condition’ exhibition at a former hospital in LA. They were telling me there’s a pink room at the exhibit that had an explanation of the color choice: Baker-Miller Pink is the only color scientifically proven to calm you AND suppress your appetite. I was like, ‘I NEED this color in my house!’ I then found someone to paint the room and now I’m loving it!”
