Shania Twain Spills On New Album, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani

Shania Twain is not keeping quiet anymore. After finalizing a tumultuous divorce from Robert “Mutt” Lange and recovering from dysphonia, a vocal-cord disorder that can cause hoarseness and trouble speaking, the country superstar is ready to raise her voice.

Twain is doing just that as she prepares her new album (her first new one in 15 years), set to debut in the fall. But that doesn’t mean she’s sitting on the couch in the meantime.

She just had a much-publicized appearance on The Voice this week on their live show–and now, she’s sharing her thoughts on hosts Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani!

“He is just really sweet and kind,” Twain said of Shelton, a fellow country star. “He was very nurturing and caring and welcoming to me… a true gentleman.”

We bet it didn’t hurt that he knew all her songs, too! Though she had never met Shelton prior to appearing on the show, she did get the chance to meet Gwen Stefani long before this show–when they both performed for the Super Bowl back in 2003!

“This was pre-children for her… so it was fun reminiscing about all of that,” Twain said.

Even more exciting? She said she had such fun on The Voice that she’d “totally” consider a gig where she’d join the judges full-time.

“The timing was never right for me, but I don’t know, this has been such a great experience I think I’m just going to move in,” she said. “They don’t know it yet.”

We can only dream!

Twain also spilled the beans on how she prepared for her new album.

“Right from the beginning, I was not going to collaborate with anybody for this one,” she said. “This needed to be an independent experience.”

After all, she hadn’t written by herself in a long time.

She added, “I was married for 14 years to my collaborator, and I really just needed to do that again. I needed to go back and do that by myself and have an uninterrupted flow of creativity that was insular, to see what I was made of, to see what I have there.”

While her final product is yet to be titled, she has a few new titled songs that she’s excited to talk about–and potentially unveil before the album release–such as “Life’s About to Get Good.”

“I was thinking ‘OK, what is life about?’” she said of the song. “I was being kind of serious; I was reflecting: Life’s about joy, life’s about pain, life’s about this, life’s about that,” she said. “Then all of a sudden: ‘Life’s about to get good.’ And I thought, ‘What a great play on words! How fun is that? Who uses ‘about’ as a play on words? I’m sure no one’s ever written that before and I was all excited.”
