Jacqueline Adan avoided weighing herself for four years. She felt like if she didn’t know what she weighed, it wouldn’t be a problem. But it was a problem. A 510-pound problem, to be exact.
Adan knew she could put off weight loss no longer after a humiliating accident in Disneyland–she got stuck in a turnstile. Though she laughed it off in public, she rushed to the bathroom and cried.
As if that weren’t bad enough, she was too big to fit on most of the rides that her friends enjoyed.
So she visited her local Jenny Craig office soon after. It was then that she found out just how many pounds had added on.
“I thought I was going to pass out,” she said of seeing the number. “This could not be real life.”
The consultant asked her what her goal was. At the time, all she could say was, “Anything but 500 pounds.”
But now, four and a half years later, she has gone above and beyond that goal, currently weighing in at 160 pounds.

She lost 350 pounds by following the Jenny Craig diet and working out–but also by learning some important lessons along the way.
Don’t try to lose it all at once. Take small steps. Work out with friends or trainers that won’t let you skip exercising. Don’t avoid the scale. And change your relationship with your weight.
“I need to feel myself in my body and figure out how I feel instead of letting the scale pick the number,” she said. “I want to base my [success] on how I am feeling once all the surgeries are over and I am actually finally able to see my body.”
By the looks of it, that all really paid off!
