Famous Presidents Who Have Unexpected A-List Celebrity Relatives

What makes a memorable president? Is it someone who’s strong or someone who’s charismatic? Is it the ability to lead or the simple ability to entertain? If it’s the latter, then you may find it shocking that some of the most popular presidents have plenty of high-power stars in their lineage.

Check out the video below to see all the celebrities who are related to US presidents.

Of course, the worlds of entertainment and politics have been slowly merging for a while now. Once upon a time, it seemed incredulous that former silver screen star Ronald Reagan could be the leader of our free world, and yet his administration defined the ’80s. But just as intriguing as seeing a president morph from a celebrity is finding out how a celebrity is descended down from a president. It should probably be mentioned that those ties are usually distant, a weird bundle of twigs on the tree. Tom Hanks is definitely humble about how he’s tangentially connected to one of the greatest presidents of all time: “I’m related to Abraham Lincoln. His mother was called Nancy Hanks, and the members of my branch of the family are either cousins or in-laws or poor relations. So when I was at school, guess which president I was always doing essays on?” he admitted.

Aside from a few World Leaders, Los Angeles and Washington DC have been kept distinctly separate (and not just by geography), so it’s interesting to see what ties some of our most iconic American leaders have to our most beloved entertainers.
