Watch a Little Girl Stop Crying the Instant She Hears Marvin Gaye’s Hit Song

Tags:

When the kids won’t stop crying, there’s not much a mom or dad can do. Or maybe, the solution to creative parenting has been there all along: 1960s motown music! That’s what works for little 1-year-old Brilynn, who hears a few notes of the Marvin Gaye classic “Let’s Get It on” and immediately goes from sad to oh-so-happy.

In fact, when little Brilynn hears the opening bars to the soul singer’s 1973 hit track, she even starts to dancing to the sound. Now, that’s a pretty cool kid!

The youngster’s mom, Katherine Dees of Highlands, TX, shared the clip to Facebook this week. In it, her elder daughter, 11-year-old Kayden, at first tries to comfort her little sister, but it’s to no avail. That’s when the family turned to what they know will take the girl from sobbing to smiling: her favorite Marvin Gaye tune.

“It just happened to catch her attention a few times, and the more it came on the TV the more she loved it,” said Dees, who says her daughter first heard the song on a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup commercial. Sometimes, the song is enough to rouse Brilynn from a deep sleep, Dees told the TODAY Show.

“She loves music in general and will twirl around to any music. But this one is definitely her favorite. We always have music playing in the house so I’m sure that has contributed to her love for the art,” Dees told the Huffington Post.

“It’s nice to see a ‘feel good’ story sometimes with all of the crazy scary bad things going on in the world,” Dees also said. “But it’s definitely even cooler that it’s my baby’s video that is bringing smiles to people’s faces.”

Watch the sweet video here. Go Brilynn, go!

If only that song worked on every crying baby! But we think Brilynn’s parents are geniuses for figuring out this entertaining trick.
