When it comes to skincare, we love our serums as much as the next gal, but sometimes, it’s not the most conducive to our lifestyles. Maybe we forgot to dab it on in the morning in our haste to get out the door, or we couldn’t quite find space for that oversized bottle it in our makeup bag for travel. Luckily, Tatcha feels us. On January 2, the beloved skincare brand released a product that serves as the answer to all our serum woes: Ladies, meet the Tatcha Serum Stick ($48, Tatcha)

This little beauty has all of the same anti-aging and priming powers of your favorite serum (a concentrated treatment made to infuse ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, or retinol, into your face), but delivers it in a more convenient, travel-friendly solid stick format.

Made with Japanese lemon balm with 80 percent squalane (a hydrogenated version of the natural compound squalene, which works to moisturize our outermost layer of skin), plus Tatcha’s own “Hadasei-3” (nourishing green tea, rice, and algae), this pocket-sized stick is formulated to smooth and soften skin, plus reduce common signs of aging — i.e. wrinkles, smile lines, skin dullness, and uneven texture — over time.

You can apply it like a regular serum before moisturizing and applying your makeup, in which case it doubles as a primer that will give your makeup a more highly-pigmented color, or you can swipe it on after you’ve already put your cosmetics on for a quick, refreshing glow.

In a clinical study by the company of 20 women over a two-week period, 96 percent reportedly experienced an instant improvement in dryness, with the same percentage reporting an improvement in texture after two weeks.

Personally, I found it to be most convenient as a touch-up stick that was not unlike a highlighter — its white hue does, in fact, have a tiny bit of sheen that I like to use near my brow bone or in the inner corner of my eyes to make them really pop after I’ve already applied my makeup.

While it certainly delivers a nice blast of hydration, for me, my favorite part about this stick is that it makes me look that much more awake on days I’m extra sleepy, and it doesn’t clog my pores or make me break out.

Other women are also loving this new-and-improved serum format, which works for all skin types — particularly dry skin, according to one Sephora reviewer. “Holy moly! This is now a holy grail product for me!” the user wrote. “This serum has made my extremely dry skin moisturized! It had made my foundation blend out like a dream! My skin stayed hydrated all day after I used this product. It has now become part of my daily skin care routine! If you have dry skin, this is for you!!”

Gushed another: “I use it primarily for my under eye, forehead, and between my brows … I’ve seen a decrease in visibility of my fine lines in these areas and my dry skin healed two times as fast. It works under makeup as a nice primer. And I’ve even used it over my makeup to refresh my under eyes. 10/10!”

10/10, indeed!
