Shania Twain Is Returning to TV and Will Star in Hit Show

If you were gutted when Shania Twain‘s TV show Why Not? with Shania Twain ended, the star’s latest announcement is just what you’ve been waiting to hear.

The country singer will make an appearance on the hit NBC show The Voice to work as a key adviser for the top 12 performers left. And, amazingly, fans won’t have to wait long to see her. Twain is scheduled to appear in Monday, April 24, according to the star’s official Twitter account.

Twain is not the first country music performer to join the show as an advisor. In addition to judge and country star Blake Shelton, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, and Luke Bryan have been a part of the show in the past, so Twain is definitely in good company.

Fans are hoping that Twain’s work on The Voice is part of a promotion for her own music. The 51-year-old hasn’t released an album since 2002’s Up!.

In 2004, Twain retired from performing. In her 2011 autobiography, she chalks up her early retirement to a weakened signing voice. But she hasn’t stayed away from the limelight. In 2012, she made her comeback, playing at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

That year, she also filmed her TV show Why Not? with Shania Twain, which premiered on Oprah Winfrey‘s network, OWN. The six-episode show covered Twain’s poverty-stricken childhood and the betrayal of and divorce from her husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange. In 2015, she put on her final road show, called Rock This Country. Of course, a new album might mean Twain isn’t done touring just yet.

With drama between The Voice judges brewing as singer Miley Cyrus is set to return as a judge, Twain’s entrance will only heighten the intrigue. That said, we really hope Twain has some new music in the works.
