Even natural disasters can't prevent your favorite lost items from being found.
Jill Stawicki and her mother, Donna, had their home destroyed by a tornado in East Moline, Illinois. Pretty much everything they owned had been damaged during the tragic incident. Out of all the precious family heirlooms that were stored in their attic, one specific item really concerned the pair.
The duo had been married in the same vintage wedding dress. Donna originally wore it in 1958 and Jill did in 1987. They were heartbroken once they realized that the storm swept the gown away.
Days later a miracle occurred. A newspaper delivery man in Le Claire, Iowa— a town two miles across the Mississippi River — discovered the dress on a hillside near the river. Thankfully due to a viral Facebook post, the Le Claire Police Department were able to return the antique outfit to Jill and Donna in mint condition.
“The tornadoes took out our houses, all these trees and whole neighborhoods — and yet, [they] just blew away this dress and gently laid it down,” Jill told ABC News. “Isn’t that crazy? It wasn’t soiled at all, and the box still had the protective plastic wrap around it. It is so incredible, the little pieces of our life we are getting back.”
