It's the best e-mail we've ever heard of ANYONE receiving.
Katie Chaput's daughter, Jozie, was born with a brain malformation and a severe seizure disorder that left her seizing up to 25 times a day as a young baby. Chaput even had to sleep with slept with one hand on her little belly, so that if Jozie stopped breathing, she could administer the powerful emergency medications that were keeping her alive.
Finally, she was able to convince doctors to try surgery to correct the malformation in her daughter's brain. The night before the surgery, she took Jozie and her brother to Kidsphoto Canada to have their pictures taken together, with Jozie looking as healthy as she might ever be.
Unfortunately, Jozie got much sicker after that--she suffered a stroke after the surgery, had a massive seizure, and became even more medically fragile than she already was. In all the chaos, Chaput didn't have time to go collect the photos from the photo shoot--and when she finally contacted the studio a few years later--after her beloved daughter had died on her fourth birthday--the photos were had either been lost or deleted, and were no longer available.
Chaput was heartbroken.
"I've spent hours of my life trying not to wallow in regret about it, but the regret is there. The only other professional photos I have of Jozie and her brother and I were taken on the day she died. She was already unconscious, and her brother knew she was dying, and they're just too horribly sad for me to look at," the mom wrote in an emotional Facebook post about the ordeal.
But then, out of nowhere, she received a shocking e-mail from Kidsphoto Canada.
"Please find attached your photo contact sheet of all the images from your Kidsphoto session from Southcentre Mall. As we were searching for some images for another client we came across your images and wanted to offer you an opportunity to purchase the digital files at a greatly reduced price. We know it's been quite a few years since your session but we didn't want to pass up this chance for you to see and purchase your captured special moments.”
Once the clerks at Kidsphoto were made aware of Chaput's situation, they gave her the photos for free--so she now has beautiful memories of her daughter and son together to treasure forever.
Talk about a happy twist of fate--and for a family who really needed it.
