Elton John Is Mourning the Loss of His Beloved Dog

Tags:

Elton John has had a terrible few months. First, he lost his mother, Sheila, in December, just months after the pair had rekindled their relationship after a feud, and now another key member of his family has passed away.

Elton revealed that his beloved dog Arthur sadly died at the age of 14. He broke the news during a show in Las Vegas last Friday, reportedly dedicating the song “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” to the cocker spaniel.

Elton, 70, was given Arthur as a 56th birthday present, and has previously referred to the pooch as his “best friend.” In fact, the faithful hound was even his best man during his wedding to David Furnish in 2014!

While it’s sad that Arthur has passed away, it’s clear the pooch had an incredibly A-list life. He was often Elton’s “date” at Michelin-star restaurants and is even a registered recording artist, with a credit on 2006 album The Captain and the Kid for “playing the woof-bells.”

Arthur leaves behind his spaniel partner Marilyn, after Elton staged a doggy wedding for them, and a puppy named Isabella. That said, all pet owners know that losing a loved one — even one with four legs and a lot fur — can be heartbreaking. Arthur’s death will no doubt, as with the death of any beloved pet, leave a big hole in Elton’s life.
