Hurricane Harvey Pet Rescues Are as Heartwarming as They Are Important


By now you’ve heard the stories and seen the heartbreaking photos of families evacuating their homes as a result of Hurricane Harvey’s destruction. But Houston and the surrounding areas that have been absolutely savaged by torrential rain, in addition to the structural damage that resulted from the hurricane’s winds, have rallied together to give the rest of America hope that not all is lost.

In all the discussions about Hurricane Harvey, one issue that’s often forgotten is the animals. What happens to the thousands of pets, both at home and those in shelters, when a natural disaster like this strikes? Sometimes, owners make the hard decision to leave their furry friends behind. Fortunately, one good thing that Harvey has underscored is that our capacity for kindness toward our fellow humans also extends to animals.
