Southwest Airlines Will Help Service Dogs Get to Veterans Faster

Veterans have served our country with more bravery and honor than most of us can even imagine. So it should go without saying that they deserve the utmost love and support when they finally come home. One of the most loving and supporting creatures in the world is a dog, so it makes sense why service dogs are a popular option for many veterans, especially those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Now, a brand-new partnership will ensure that these strong men and women will get this well-deserved companionship as soon as they possibly can.

Southwest Airlines is teaming up with Freedom Fur, a non-profit organization with a mission of connecting our veterans who have PTSD with trained service dogs. The popular airline will help expand the Texas-based organization’s reach and make sure the dogs get to their new owners in a timely manner. Volunteers from the Southwest Airlines Animal Transport Team will use their days off to transport the dogs to their homes. Meanwhile, Freedom Fur will handle training the pups in basic obedience before they take off to meet their new owners.

“These dogs are lifesaving, and we want to get these dogs into as many homes as possible as quickly as possible,” said Holly Brown, who is the co-founder of Freedom Fur. “With Southwest Airlines and with our travel team, I really believe that it is going to open up a lot of doors for more soldiers to get the help they need and these little angels really do change lives.”

Two paws up for Freedom Fur and Southwest Airlines!
